Made-to-measure & Bespoke breeches

Our showroom in West Berkshire

We are pleased to offer this traditionally crafted garment as either a bespoke or made-to-measure offering.

All of our bespoke and made to measure breeches are individually made to order to your specification by highly skilled craftsmen within the UK. The cloth that we use is of the highest quality.

Each garment is cut out separately by hand and the garment is constructed by one seamstress who makes the entire garment. Lead time for producing made-to-measure breeches is between four and eight weeks depending on cloth and colour options and customer demand.  A delivery estimate is given at time of ordering.

New customers will need to book an initial appointment to be measured up for the first pair to ensure the right fit. We keep all customer measurements and pattern details on file to make repeat ordering easy.  Returning customers who want to place a repeat order can do so via the shop.

Fittings are held at our showroom in West Berkshire. The showroom is a comfortable area where you are measured and can see examples of all the different styles of breeches, the various style, cloth and colour options.

Visits to the showrrom are strictly by appointment only.

Styles

We have a number of styles and options for made-to-measure breeches. Additionally, you can add or remove options to customise the breeches to your requirements.

Gents Vintage Cut

As the name suggests; the cut is based on the original 1930's style with a wider hip and thigh or as we sometimes refer to as having 'wings'. This style was introduced as a regular made-to-measure cut in 2014 due to a large number of customer requests.

The style options were further expanded following a commission for Household Cavalry dress breeches. The Vintage cut was modified to incorporate a slightly higher grown-on waistband and a side shin opening. Due to a number of customers having knee injuries; we added this side shin opening as a popular option as this style as it takes the seam away from the knee area providing more comfort for the injury area.

Gents Modern Cut

Based on the traditional breech but with a slimmer silhouette than the Vintage cut. The main difference is the width through the hip and thigh. The Modern cut is a loose comfortable fit but without the 'wing'

Ladies Classic cut

A flattering cut which sits on the waist, skims the hips and thigh with a smooth long line into the knee. Can be made with or without a peaked back.

Additional Options

All cuts are available with the following options:

Openings - Qtr split fall, zip or button fly

Backs - Peaks or straight, with or without brace buttons

Waistbands - separate or grown-on

Strappings - cloth or Alcantara in various colours

Garter Buttons - number, type and spacing

Cloth options and colours

We hold a selection of popular cloths and colours in stock which reduce the lead time. Our most popular cloths are traditional Bedford Cord, heavy weight Moleskin and Cotton Twills. We finish the Bedford Cord cloth ourselves with a treatment process that ensures the cloth can be machine washable.

In the showroom, we have books and cards for many more cloth ranges and colours which you can review during your 1st fitting.

You can also request a sample card of some of our standard and stock support cloths and colours via the online shop.

Other colour options are available and can be sourced according to customer requirements.

We also work with Cavalry Twill and other special order cloth options for specific commissions.
